About Castle Clanyard

Castle Clanyard stands in an open field a mile or so south of Port Logan and 15 miles south of the harbour town of Stranraer. There is little evidence of the substantial castle which once occupied the site apart from a section of the west wall. The castle was built by the Clan Gordon in around the late 1500s, but was in a ruinous condition by the 1680s.
