About Findochty Castle
Findochty Castle is a ruined 16th-century L-plan tower house in Moray.
History of Findochty Castle
The remains of Findochty Castle stand on the Mains of Findochty Farm at roughly the halfway point between Portknockie and Buckie in Moray. The castle was constructed by the Clan Gordon in the 16th century as an L-plan tower house of three storeys. The castle passed to the Clan Ogilvy and finally the Ord family. The castle was abandoned sometime in the 1780s and was in a ruinous state by the 1790s. No facilities.
