About Fisher Tower
Fisher Tower in Darnick is undergoing restoration after centuries as a ruin.
History of Fisher Tower
The remains of Fisher Tower stand in the village of Darnick which is almost a suburb of Melrose in the Scottish Borders. Darnick was the site of three towers and when they were all standing, one could virtually throw a stone from one tower and hit the next, such was their close proximity to each other. The towers were named Darnick Tower, Fisher Tower and the Small Peel. Darnick Tower still stands (see that listing) but the Small Peel is gone. Fisher Tower was constructed by the Fisher family in the 16th century and later remodelled. Although a roofless ruin for many years, it would seem that restoration work is well underway. Tip: The magnificent ruins of Melrose Abbey are close by where you can visit the true Braveheart.
