About Ford House

Ford House is a small L-plan tower house built by Clan Fraser of Lovat.

History of Ford House

Ford House stands just outside the village of Pathhead a couple of miles south-east of Dalkeith in East Lothian. The building is a small L-plan Tower House and was constructed by the Clan Fraser of Lovat in the 1680s. There is some evidence that Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed here as a guest of the Frasers but their loyalty to the Princes cause would ultimately see them forfeit the property. The property was modernised in the 1960s and remains a private residence.
