Mar's Castle

Mar's Castle was built by the Stewart Earls of Mar during the medieval period to control their territories around Aberdeen. The castle served as an important stronghold for this powerful noble family, who played significant roles in Scottish politics and the governance of the northeast. The original structure has been completely demolished and no remains survive, though its historical significance in the Mar family's control of Aberdeenshire is well documented.
