Tulliebole Castle

Tulliebole Castle, located in the scenic Perthshire countryside near Kinross, dates back to the early 17th century. Built around 1608 by John Halliday, the castle is a fine example of a Scottish tower house, reflecting the architectural style of the period. The castle has witnessed numerous historical events, including the tumultuous times of the Scottish Reformation and the Jacobite uprisings. One of the most poignant episodes in its history is its connection to the Crook of Devon Witch Trials in 1662, where 11 people were executed for witchcraft. Today, a memorial stands in the castle grounds to honour the victims of these trials. Over the centuries, Tulliebole Castle has been carefully preserved and remains a private residence. It is open to the public for special events, including weddings and tours, allowing visitors to explore its rich history and beautiful gardens. The current owners have maintained its historic charm while ensuring it remains a vibrant part of Scotland's cultural heritage.
